Service and Maintenance
Use a 4 mm hex wrench to loosen the upper crown bolt. Remove the Solo Air top cap as described in the Rock Shox manual.
Remove both air valve caps from the AWK unittop cap. Remove the valve-core of the main chamber valve (the unlabeled valve). Use a Schrader valve-core tool.
Apply SRAM Butter, r.s.p. SlickKick or similar to the top cap threads. This is necessary to protect the AWK piston seal ring during installation.
Apply 1.5-2,5 ml 0W-30 Rock Shox Oil (engine oil 5W-30...40 also possible). Do not use longlifeengine oil!
Carefully push the AWK top cap to the beginning of the threads. Ensure that you don’t twist the AWK top cap. Use a torque wrench with a 30 mm socket to tighten the top cap to 7.3 Nm.
Advice: A thin piece of plastic bag between socket and AWK protects the black anodized surface.
Pressurize the AWK chamber (marked) according to the pressure chart below.
Rider weight
60-72 kg -> 70 psi
70-80 kg -> 80 psi
80-90 kg -> 90 psi
90-100 kg -> 100 psi
Note: This is the AWK pressure presetting, not the final AWK pressure! Do not exceed 100 psi when main air chamber is unpressurized. This could cause damage to the AWK unit.
Pressurize the main air chamber (the unlabeled valve) according to the pressure chart below.
Rider weight
60-72 kg -> 41-54 psi
70-80 kg -> 50-60 psi
80-90 kg -> 58-68 psi
90-100 kg -> 66-78 psi
Note: Ensure that the AWK chamber pressure is higher than the main air chamber pressure.
Pressurize the AWK chamber to the final pressure.
Rider weight
60-72 kg -> 88-120 psi
70-80 kg -> 110-135 psi
80-90 kg -> 127-150 psi
90-100 kg -> 145-171 psi
Note: A pressure difference between AWK chamber and main air chamber greater than 100 psi is not permitted! Do not exceed 175 psi in the AWK chamber!
Install the air valve caps on both valves.
Note: Operation without air valve caps is not allowed!
